 about

What is seeds of regeneration?

Seeds of regeneration is a collection of stories and information about regenerative agriculture, humans, nature, and the wild, ancient relationship we are all in with the earth.

Who are we?

Seeds of regeneration (previously Permaculture Love) is run and hosted by Harriet Knight

Harriet is an organic grower by day and a writer by night. She has spent the past few years learning regenerative agriculture all over the world through courses and farm work.

She worked with world-leading permaculturist Geoff Lawton at the Permaculture Research Institute on Zaytuna Farm. It was on this farm that she fell so in love with permaculture, and felt inspired to communicate this love to the world through writing.

Seeds of regeneration was born. Harriet continues to travel the world learning about regenerative agriculture and shares her experiences here.

What is regenerative agriculture?

Regenerative agriculture is more than just growing organic food. It is growing food in a way that builds soil health, protects the environment, and improves the ecosystem. Regenerative agriculture supports communities of farmers and consumers towards having complete food sovereignty. Regenerative agriculture is the future. It holds solutions to the mass destruction of our ecosystems due to modern conventional agriculture. It provides an alternative to the disconnect we face with our food systems.

Here is a thorough definition, and I recommend checking out some of my blog posts, and the website listed below for more information:

"Regenerative Agriculture is a system of farming principles and practices that increases biodiversity, enriches soils, improves watersheds, and enhances ecosystem services.

Regenerative Agriculture aims to capture carbon in soil and aboveground biomass, reversing current global trends of atmospheric accumulation.

At the same time, it offers increased yields, resilience to climate instability, and higher health and vitality for farming and ranching communities.

The system draws from decades of scientific and applied research by the global communities of organic farming, agroecology, Holistic Management, and agroforestry."
